Avoiding cavities through proper oral hygiene is always ideal, but if your child does get a cavity, we have solutions to get them back to optimal health. We offer composite fillings for children of all ages at our Clear Lake dental office.
Composite fillings are an ideal solution for cavities for several reasons. Composites can closely match the color of your child’s tooth, ensuring that their dental restoration looks and feels natural. Also, composite fillings do not require the removal of as much tooth structure as mercury amalgam fillings. This means that more of your child’s enamel and dentin can be preserved during the procedure. Composite fillings also bond more tightly to the enamel, which strengthens the structure of the tooth and provides a durable restoration. Book an appointment today!
If your child’s tooth has been severely damaged by untreated tooth decay or an oral injury, it may need to be protected with a dental crown. Pediatric crowns are used to cover up and protect remaining enamel and strengthen the tooth. For younger children who still have their baby (primary) teeth, we options of using either zirconium (white) or stainless steel crowns. Crowns effectively prevent further damage and decay to the tooth. Because baby teeth are meant to fall out naturally, keeping them in good shape is important for spacing in your child's mouth until the proper time.
For older children or teenagers who may need a dental crown on a permanent tooth, Dr. Brock recommends stainless steel crowns at our Clear Lake office. This bridges the gap until they are old enough to have a porcelain permanent crown placed instead. Children's gums and teeth continue to grown in the mouth throughout adolescence. It is typically not recommended to place a permanent porcelain crown until adulthood. The crown placement process is minimally invasive, and we can offer dental sedation to help keep your child calm and comfortable throughout the entire procedure. You can always trust that our team will take care of your little ones as if they were our own.
If your child has been complaining about a toothache or a sensitive tooth, they may need a crown or filling. The faster you get treatment, the better the outcome will be. We offer same-day appointments for all our patients whether you're in Friendswood, Dickinson, League City, Seabrook, Pasadena, or the surrounding areas, and we are always accepting new patients.
